What Is Laser-Assisted Periodontal Therapy?

In this video, Jenifer Storment, the hygienist at Atkins Dental Clinic, introduces laser-assisted periodontal therapy using the K2 Mobile Dental Diode Laser for effective gum disease treatment. Schedule a consultation today to learn how this advanced technology can improve your gum health with minimal discomfort and faster healing.

Hi, my name is Jenifer Storment, and I’m the hygienist here at Atkins Dental Clinic. We are excited to announce that we now offer gum disease treatment using the K2 Mobile Dental Diode Laser.

With laser-assisted periodontal therapy, we use the laser to thoroughly disinfect the area by eliminating bacteria upon contact. After this, I use an ultrasonic scaler and hand instruments to remove any hardened bacterial deposits around the teeth. Finally, I go over the area once more with the laser to sterilize the pocket. Over the next four to six weeks, the gum tissue will heal and tighten around the tooth, effectively eliminating periodontal disease.

Lasers provide several advantages, including better bacterial reduction, faster healing, and minimal invasiveness. The procedure results in less bleeding, reduced discomfort, and a quicker recovery time. With the help of anesthetic agents, the treatment is well-tolerated and comfortable for patients.

If you would like to learn more about this procedure or any other services we offer, please give us a call or visit our website. Thank you, and have a great day.

Could Full Arch Dental Implants in Russellville Solve Your Denture Problems?

Replacing an entire arch of teeth can sound like a pretty big procedure, especially if you’ve been dealing with failing teeth or uncomfortable dentures for years. You might wonder how many implants you’ll need, if your jawbone is strong enough to support them, or how long you’ll have to wait for your new teeth. But full-arch treatment isn’t a [...]

How Snap-On Dentures Redefine Comfort

When a denture shifts while you eat or speak, the problem does not end with an imperfect fit. Research on complete denture wearers has examined discomfort while eating, interrupted meals, difficulty speaking, concerns about appearance, and changes in social interaction. Taken together, these experiences show the way something as basic as denture stability can reach into several parts of [...]

Your Dental Plate Doesn’t Fit Like It Used To. Now What?

A dental plate is a term commonly used for removable replacement teeth, particularly a full denture. You may also hear someone call a partial denture a plate when it replaces several missing teeth. In the dental office, we more often use terms like full denture or partial denture, which tell us more about the type of appliance someone is [...]

What Does Research Say About Laser-Assisted Periodontal Therapy?

Laser-assisted periodontal therapy brings dental laser technology into gum disease treatment, often alongside scaling and root planing. The cleaning part may sound familiar: plaque and hardened calculus are removed from below the gumline and along the tooth roots. But where does the laser come in? Depending on the type of laser, its settings, and the treatment protocol, it may [...]

Clear Aligners in Atkins: How Alignment Supports Your Oral Health

Human beings are naturally drawn to symmetry. A neatly arranged shelf, a level picture frame, or an evenly aligned smile feels satisfying because our brains process order and symmetry easily. With your teeth, however, alignment also has health benefits. Tooth position can affect where plaque collects, how biting pressure is distributed, and how comfortably your teeth function together. For [...]

Mini Denture Implants: What Changes After Your Denture Has a Stronger Foundation?

Mini denture implants give a denture something traditional dentures do not have: a direct connection to the jawbone. We place mini dental implants into the jaw and attach the denture to them, which gives the replacement teeth added retention and stability. Traditional dentures rest on the gums. An upper denture also extends across the roof of the mouth, where [...]

Mini Dental Implants Cost in Russellville: Are They More Affordable?

Dental implant treatment can give people pause, especially when cost is thrown into the mix. The traditional implant process consists of multiple steps, and each one can add to the overall expense. Mini dental implants can make implant treatment look a little different from the traditional path. Their smaller, simpler design can make the overall process more straightforward, which [...]

3 Key Questions To Ask Your Implant Dentist

Searching for an implant dentist usually starts with one simple question: “Who should I trust?” Search results can tell you where a practice is located, what services it offers, and how patients rated their experience. They tell you much less about how that dentist approaches treatment or whether they’re the right fit for your needs. Those answers come from [...]
