Can I Get a Dental Implant at the Same Time As an Extraction?

In this video, Dr. Aaron Bratton explains the factors determining whether a dental implant can be placed immediately after an extraction, highlighting why same-day placement is more common for back teeth and temporary solutions to maintain your smile if healing is needed first. Schedule a free consultation at Atkins Dental Clinic today for high-quality general, cosmetic, and implant dentistry services.

Same-day implant placement following extractions is a highly individualized procedure that depends on several factors. While possible, it is less common and is determined on a case-by-case basis. Due to the anatomy of the back teeth, same-day placement is more frequently an option in the posterior region than in the front.

For front teeth, immediate loading is generally not recommended because the implant size differs from the natural root it replaces. While I typically prefer to allow proper healing before placing the implant, there is no need to worry about being without a front tooth. If same-day placement is not feasible, we have temporary solutions to maintain your smile and function during healing.

If the best approach is to allow healing before placing the implant, we ensure that an appropriate temporary appliance is provided the same day to maintain aesthetics and function.

Dental Implant Costs in 2026: Why Mini Implants Change the Math

Let’s be real for a second: when most people search for dental implant costs in 2026, they’re bracing for sticker shock. That fear makes sense. Traditional implants have long carried a price tag that puts them out of reach for a lot of folks in our community. But here at Atkins Dental Clinic, we don’t think the cost of [...]

Understanding the Cost of Mini Dental Implants [A Video Guide]

The cost of mini dental implants is often one of the first questions patients ask, and for good reason. Any treatment that involves replacing missing teeth deserves careful consideration. But cost means more than a number on a treatment estimate. It also reflects what the treatment is built to do. Mini dental implants are small titanium posts that Dr. [...]

Do Clear Aligners Work as Well as Braces? How They Compare

Do clear aligners work compared to braces? It’s a question that tends to come up for a reason. A clear, flexible tray does not appear to match the strength of metal brackets and wires, so it raises a fair question about how it actually performs. At Atkins Dental Clinic, we have treated many orthodontic cases with clear aligners and [...]

Why Minimally Invasive Dental Implants Expand Your Treatment Options

Minimally invasive dental implants broaden eligibility. Traditionally, candidacy relied on available bone and the scope of surgery. With bone loss or more involved procedures, options often felt limited before being fully considered. Eligibility, though, is not defined by one standard. It is a way to evaluate your overall health and determine how treatment can work. Sometimes that means preparing [...]

What Is a Roundhouse Bridge? Rethinking Denture Support With Dental Implants

Most improvements in dentistry do not come from starting over. They come from taking something that already works and asking how it can work better. A traditional denture does a lot. It restores a full smile and helps you return to a more balanced diet. It replaces what was lost in a way that feels complete again. But there [...]

What It Means To Have a Dentist in Atkins You Can Rely On

Oral health often sits outside the way people think about routine healthcare. Many healthcare and insurance structures treat dental care as separate from general medicine, which can make dental visits feel optional or easy to put off. Cost, insurance limitations, and availability can also make consistent care harder to maintain. When those barriers are in place, early signs of [...]

Understanding Dental Fear and How Sedation Dentistry Can Help

A nationwide survey of 1,003 U.S. adults found that 72.6% reported some level of fear about going to the dentist, ranging from moderate anxiety to severe fear. In other words, dental fear is far more common than many people realize. When anxiety grows strong enough, it can delay appointments or make routine care feel difficult to face. Over time, [...]

Mini Implants vs. Traditional Implants [Video Breakdown]

A dental implant is one of the most beneficial tooth-replacement options because it replaces a missing tooth at its root. The implant is placed in the jawbone and then used to support a crown, bridge, or denture. Other tooth replacement options can still restore a smile, and in some cases, they may be the right fit. But dental implants [...]
