Hi, my name is Jenifer Storment, and I’m the hygienist here at Atkins Dental Clinic. We are excited to announce that we now offer gum disease treatment using the K2 Mobile Dental Diolaser.
With laser-assisted periodontal therapy, we use the laser to thoroughly disinfect the area by eliminating bacteria upon contact. After this, I use an ultrasonic scaler and hand instruments to remove any hardened bacterial deposits around the teeth. Finally, I go over the area once more with the laser to sterilize the pocket. Over the next four to six weeks, the gum tissue will heal and tighten around the tooth, effectively eliminating periodontal disease.
Lasers provide several advantages, including better bacterial reduction, faster healing, and minimal invasiveness. The procedure results in less bleeding, reduced discomfort, and a quicker recovery time. With the help of anesthetic agents, the treatment is well-tolerated and comfortable for patients.
