If you have a floating denture, you are the reason mini implants have remained a key solution in modern dentistry. A floating denture typically means you have significant bone loss, also known as an atrophied or recessed alveolar ridge—essentially, your gums have shrunk over time. Many individuals in this situation do not have enough bone width or height to support a standard implant.
For cases like these, mini implants are an ideal option. Typically, four mini implants are placed across the front portion of the jaw in the upper or lower arch. Your denture then attaches securely to these implants using O-ring housings that snap onto the small, ball-shaped heads of the implants.
This approach restores the stability and function that may have been lost as your denture loosened over time. Mini implants help keep your denture in place, preventing movement and significantly improving comfort, speech, and chewing ability.
